About Islip ARES RACES
We Are Volunteers. When emergency agencies are required in areas where a disaster has occurred, their regular means of communications can be affected as a result of the disaster. That creates the need for a supplemental or back-up communications system, one that comes complete with equipment and trained operators, all at no cost to the public or the agency involved. In fact, these men and women are volunteer members of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES).

We train by participating in a weekly drill message and by participating in different events in the greater Islip area in which we provide communications support using the same skills that would be necessary in an actual emergency.

Islip ARES RACES is looking for volunteers who recognize how crucial our back-up service is to those agencies that respond in times of emergency and to the members of the public we serve. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Islip ARES RACES group, please contact us today.
