STEPHANIE Wales has secured a NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination just one week after her twin sister Lucy was recognised for the same award.
The 19-year-old had 21 hitouts, three clearances and seven tackles to help steer Essendon to a thrilling four-point victory over the Sydney Swans at IKON Park in Round 8.
Wales was selected by Essendon with pick No. 32 in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft after an impressive VFLW campaign for the Casey Demons.
She made her VFLW debut in the Round 7 victory over Collingwood and went on to play 11 matches, including three finals.
Arguably her best performance for the Demons came in the preliminary final defeat to the Southern Saints when she amassed 19 disposals, five marks, four tackles and 12 hitouts.
Wales was selected as the Round 8 NAB AFLW Rising Star nominee with GWS Giants defender Tarni Evans.
Her twin sister Lucy was awarded a Rising Star nomination in Round 7 for her role in Hawthorn's 13-point victory over Port Adelaide last week. Lucy was also a key member of the Casey Demons throughout the 2022 VFLW season.
Both sisters played junior football with Oakleigh Junior Football Club.
