Chris Buescher won his second straight NASCAR Cup Series race by holding off Martin Truex late in the FireKeepers 400 on Monday. Buescher won last week at Richmond. He took the lead at Michigan on lap 133 and didn't give it up. With 12 laps to go in the 200-lap race, Truex challenged him with door-to-door driving before sparks were seen under his No. 19 Toyota and he faded.

The NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway was suspended due to rain and was scheduled to resume Monday. The FireKeepers 400 began after a 1 hour, 43 minute rain delay on Sunday. And 74 laps later, precipitation pushed the drivers out of their cars during a red-flag stoppage that lasted nearly an hour before the 200-lap race was postponed. Shortly before the race was suspended, Tyler Reddick took the lead after a restart and was followed by Alex Bowman, Kyle Larson and points-leader Martin Truex Jr.

Chase Elliott is back from his suspension with a chance to get right back in the win column. The NASCAR Cup Series’ most popular driver excels on road courses like Sonoma Raceway, where he has four career top-10 finishes. Elliott has the skills to take on other road warriors like Tyler Reddick and defending champion Daniel Suárez on Sunday in the series’ annual trip to the challenging course in Northern California wine country.

Ryan Blaney pulled away late to win the rescheduled Coca-Cola 600 on Monday at Charlotte Speedway, giving team owner Roger Penske a sweep of the Memorial Day weekend’s top races in the United States. Josef Newgarden won a record-extending 19th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday for Team Penske. It marked the first time Team Penske has earned a sweep of the two races in the same year.

Ross Chastain thinks things went too far in punching Noah Gragson in the pits at Kansas last week. But Chastain said he's growing more more comfortable as the NASCAR Cup Series' reigning villain. Points leader Chastain competes in the Goodyear 400 on Sunday at Darlington Raceway. Gragson confronted Chastain but Chastain got a punch in before security broke things up. Chastain and Gragson talked things out Monday. Chastain said he wants to make drivers uncomfortable on the track.

It's been quite the week in the NASCAR Cup Series for Toyota, which got a win in Monday's rain-delayed race at Dover with Martin Truex Jr. and Joe Gibbs Racing, then picked up Jimmie Johnson's two-car team for next season. Now, with the Cup Series headed to Kansas Speedway, the momentum could very well continue.

Dirt-racing star Christopher Bell held on through a restart eight laps from the end and outran Tyler Reddick to win the dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Bell was a whiz-kid dirt sensation growing up and that experience helped the Joe Gibbs Racing driver to his fifth victory in the NASCAR Cup Series. Reddick was second for the second straight year followed by Austin Dillon, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Chase Briscoe.

Dirt guys like Kyle Larson and Chase Briscoe figure to have a huge edge this weekend when the NASCAR Cup Series moves to Bristol's dirt layout. They're not so sure. Both wonder if there's any advantage from their younger days as top-notch dirt drivers because the Next Gen cars are so much heavier to handle on the slippery surface.

Kyle Busch is off to a solid start with Richard Childress Racing. He's won once, has two top-10 finishes and is fourth in points, Busch had one of the four Chevrolets to sweep the first four races of the season. He says wins by Ford and Toyota in the last two races are a good thing because parity means no one knows who will win any given week.
